Today we did our first 20 mile day! Last night Chris and I realized that with the plan we had we wouldn’t make it to the 300 mile mark before he meets up with his family on the thirtieth. We thought that was a shame so decided to switch up our plan. Tomorrow we’ll hike 14 miles and the day after another 20. This is much more than we’ve been doing in the past, but I think it will be a good way to start ramping up the daily mileages. Since I’ll be taking a day off with Chris it doesn’t matter as much if I push a little too hard.
We got into camp around 6 o clock today, which is much later than usual. I’ve been getting to camp around 3-4 each day, which leaves plenty of time for relaxation before cooking/bed. Unfortunately since we got in so late today this is the first time I’ve been able to lie down since we go to camp. It’s well worth the mileage though.
Tomorrow we’ll be in Hot Springs, which is about four miles away and right on the trail. It’s the first of a few towns that the trail goes right through which is awesome and super convenient.
Too tired to write much more, more later.
